Community Meeting – Tuesday July 12th at 6PM
This month we will be discussing how youth are targeted through community policing programs. We’ll be showcasing some of the popular education materials being created in our community policing workgroup, highlighting the cyclical nature of reform. Our group will also facilitate a collective conversation around how the community polices our youth, and how law enforcement deputizes other agencies to criminalize our youth. We will also provide a recap of the June 1st City Council meeting, during which a motion was passed that provided more Targeted Violence and Terrorism Prevention (TVTP) grant funding to LAPD’s youth surveillance program, Providing Alternatives to Hinder Extremism (PATHE).
Lastly we will discuss the mainstream response to school shootings, including implementations of gun control laws and calls to increase policing in response to “extremism”. Join the fight!
