On Tuesday, the Coalition attended the Board of Police Commissioners meeting where we honored Jerry Estrada and fought back against his murder at the hands of LAPD on Friday September 19th when LAPD hit him while he was skateboarding home in Highland Park. We also continued to push back against their drone program which uses drones as first responders so that LAPD can automate violence without deploying officers live.
We also went to LA CAN’s DWAC (Downtown Woman’s Action Coalition) meeting where we continue to build out the women’s needs assessment and fight for women’s needs together!
That evening, we continued our conversation in preparation for O22 — October 22nd — which is the national day of action against police brutality and violence.

On Wednesday, we attended LA CAN’s HCR (Human and Civil Rights) meeting! We also held our Academic Complicity Working Group Meeting.

On Friday, we honored Assata Shakur after her passing during held our monthly movie night where we screened “Eyes of the Rainbow,” a documentary film with and about Shakur and her lift, work, and her fight.

Saturday was the Community Self-Defense Coalition meeting where we continued to build in our self-defense work against ICE.
