06/24:
On Tuesday, the Coalition attended the Board of Police Commissioners meeting where we fought back against their technology report, which praised ALRPs and other tech for its capacity to aid cop-agenda’s in hunting, tracking, and killing.
That evening, we held our monthly data-driven policing community meeting, where we did a skill share on how to file a public records request!
06/26:
On Thursday, members from the Coalition spoke at a panel with ethnic studies teachers about the War on Youth, and our fightback against the programs the target and criminalize young folks.
That evening, we held a Watch the Watchers training where we talked about and broke down our copwatch practice.
06/27:
The Coalition held our monthly movie night on Friday where we screened 3 short films about James Baldwin abroad. We talked about the construction of race and the functions of the imperial state (the US).
06/28:
On Saturday we had a cookout at Nickerson Gardens with community members (featuring a homemade dunk tank)!
06/29:
Sunday was Skid Row Pride! We celebrated Pride with LA CAN — dancing, doing tattoos, nails, and eating delicious food together!
