On Wednesday, Stop LAPD Spying supported UCLA SJP in their screening of “The Encampments,” which was shut down by riot police. We know UCLA’s mobilization of riot cops if borne out of their fear of the students, their power, and seemingly a movie screening, and their repression is no deterrent to the continued resistance and power of the students are we stand in solidarity with Palestine.

On May Day, the Coalition marched across Los Angeles from MacArthur Park to Pershing Square to be in community and build power, and to celebrate the lineages of resistance that came before us. While ICE continues their raids, Stop LAPD Spying continues to fight with Union del Barrio and the Community Self-Defense Coalition as we work to expose and disrupt ICE, la migra, and LAPD in all of their attempts to abduct and harm our communities.
At the march, we did a practice called “Watch the Watchers” where we observe, note, and do our own practices of counter-surveillance of the police.
We unveiled a few new chants from our War on Youth Working group, especially one targeting programs like LASAR (Los Angeles Schools Anonymous Reporting) and PATHE (Providing Alternatives to Hinder Extremism). These programs target and criminalize our youth and our students in particular in Los Angeles, and to that, we say, “TEACHERS TEACH, STUDENTS LEARN, LYING PIGS AND SNITCHES BURN!”
