This past week, on Tuesday 3/24 we went to the Board of Police Commissioner’s meeting, and we held our monthly Data Driven Policing meeting where we had lots and lots of updates about Flock and how we are continuing our fight against it. Later that week, on Wednesday, we did community watch and outreach for DWAC’s Women’s Needs Assessment Launch!
We also attended LA CAN’s Human and Civil Right Committee Meeting where we practiced outreach together and continued to understand the potential budget cuts that may impact access to resources in Skid Row like the Refresh Spot (bathrooms and showers)!
On Friday 3/27, the Coalition attended DWAC’s Women’s Needs Assessment Townhall / Launch. There was an incredible panel, testimonies / monologues, performances, and story telling through comedy, and Steps and Stats! The launch was an incredible way to begin to share what women’s needs are in Skid Row! From access to nutritious food to permanent housing, the women’s needs assessment is physical written testimony. We also shared a delicious meal together!
