Weekly Update 02/16

On Tuesday February 10th, we went to the Board of Police Commissioner’s meeting where they had nearly 4 million dollars worth of drone equipment for LAPD. We understand this to be mission creep: they claimed the drones are for “first responding,” but we know they are also for mass surveillance and criminalizing protestors. Later that evening, we had our fight against the War on Youth community meeting, where we talked about the recent walkouts and the power of young folks!

On Wednesday, we traveled to the Inland Empire to join the Inland Empire Reading Group for a teach in (at an awesome art space — Pain Sugar!). We got to share and learn from folks and do deep learning together. Later that week, we had the Resident Organizing Committee meeting (ROC) on Friday at LA CAN. We got to hear from Jerome Scott and Walda Katz-Fishman on their book Motown and the Making of Working Class Revolutionaries.
