Join us on Tuesday, April 19th at 6pm as we continue our online series of community conversations for collective learning, analysis, sharing, and building on the Stop LAPD Spying Coalition’s report Automating Banishment: The Surveillance and Policing of Looted Land.
This Tuesday, we’ll begin our dive into Part 5 – Racial Terror and White Wealth in South Central. We’ll take a closer look at the violent impact data driven policing operations had in the historically Black neighborhoods of South Central LA. We’ll be using Operation LASER’s implementation in South Central as a case study on how anti-Blackness is paramount in dictating LAPD racial violence. Paula Minor of Black Lives Matter Los Angeles, who has been advocating for the victims of police violence for nearly a decade will join us in discussing the lived experiences of harassment and violence endured by Black Angelenos. We will also begin to explore the war against Black autonomy in south central, and the concerted efforts by police and developers to banish Black LA. Join the fight!
