Know Your Fight! General Meeting

Join us in person this Tuesday, May 16, at 6 PM for our monthly General Meeting. This month we will be working on developing community resources and popular education materials based on Watch the Watchers. In March we launched WATCHTHEWATCHERS.NET and in April we launched KNOW YOUR LOCAL COPS: A RESOURCE FOR SKID ROW COUNTER-SURVEILLANCE, a physical booklet focused on LAPD’s Central Division. We will talk about making similar resources for your neighbors.

We will also discuss recent state repression of activists who are using public records for community self-defense. In Atlanta, prosecutors have charged Stop Cop City activists with felonies for using public records to distribute fliers naming the cops who killed forest defender Manuel “Tortuguita” Terán. And in Los Angeles, prosecutors have filed a lawsuit to censor our publication of public records about LAPD officers, claiming we threaten national security.

Finally, we will discuss our organizing around LAPD’s demands for a dog-like military robot, currently set for City Council vote on May 23.

This meeting will be in person at the Los Angeles Community Action Network (838 East 6th Street) in downtown Los Angeles.
