On Tuesday, August 5th, over thirty people gathered to kick-start the Drone-Free LAPD–No Drones, LA!–Campaign. Collectively, we developed a Mission and Goals for the campaign. Mission and Goals
We are dismantling all forms of police oppression and any policy that makes us suspect in the eyes of the State. Our vision is the termination of government sanctioned spying and intelligence gathering in all its multiple forms. The primary goal of the Drone-Free LAPD – No Drones, LA! – Campaign is to prevent the use of drone surveillance technology by law enforcement.
We reject the use of drone technology by LAPD. These tactics establish permanent police presence, further militarization, and normalize mass surveillance: creating cultures of fear, suspicion, and ultimately–violence. These policies are rooted not in public safety, but in the drive for corporate profit linked to a global military/police industrial complex.
