Behavioral Surveillance – Deputizing State Violence

Community MeetingTuesday July 19th at 6PM

Join us on July 19th at 6 PM over Zoom for our third Tuesday of the month general meeting.

This month we will discuss how behavioral surveillance is used to trace, track, monitor, and stalk community members. Rooted in the long history of police deputization, programs such as See Something, Say Something recruit communities to report “suspicious behavior.” Adding surveillance technologies like Nextdoor and Citizen, these programs create a license to racially profile Black, brown, and migrant communities. We will discuss how LAPD is trying to conceal the violence of “data-driven policing” by rebranding it into “community policing.” We will also plan how to expand our organizing against LAPD’s “community policing” reforms. Join the fight!
