This past week, the Coalition attended the Downtown Women’s Action Coalition’s Healing Circle on Tuesday 5/26, and we did outreach later that afternoon in Skid Row to talk to folks about Flock “Safety” and its harms. We also got petition signatures! If you have yet to sign our petition demanding Flock is shut down, sign here! Later that night, we held our monthly Data Driven Policing community meeting where we talked about outreach, the why, the how, and the foundation of outreach!
On Wednesday 5/27, we went to LA CAN’s Human and Civil Rights meeting where we talked about the current political moment and planned for the upcoming DTLA Artwalk. We also held our “Shut it Down” meeting to continue to organize against data driven policing, with our current fight being against Flock! On Thursday, we practiced with LA CAN in preparation for LA CAN’s Freedom Now Celebration on Juneteenth!
Friday 5/29 is our monthly movie night where we will be watching Screaming Queens: The Riot at Compton’s Cafeteria, a documentary about trans folks’ fight against police violence in San Francisco’s Tenderloin. On Saturday, we will be attending the Community Self Defense Coalition’s meeting!
