This past week, we did outreach on Monday 04/06bat some of the buildings in Skid Row in preparation for LA CAN’s Tenant’s Rights Committee Townhall on Friday. We also attended LA CAN’s DWAC meeting where we had the final part to our Conflict Resolution Training with Kim Wilson.
On Tuesday April 7th, we attended the Board of Police Commissioner’s Meeting which we were not allowed into the building for. Despite that, we will still able to attend online outside of the building. Later that evening, we held our monthly Gender and Sexuality meeting where we had two guests speak to us about the solidarity accompaniment trip to the West Bank in Palestine. It was incredibly powerful and heavy to learn of the deep settler colonial violence, but also, the incredible ongoing resistance of the Palestinian people.
Later that week, on Wednesday April 8th, we did outreach with LA CAN’s Human and Civil Rights Committee where we interviewed folks about their experiences with the ongoing sweeps. We also had our coordinating team meeting on Wednesday!
On Friday, we attended LA CAN’s TRC townhall where we got to hear from the incredible and powerful tenants living in Skid Row as we demand dignified permanent housing for all!
