On Saturday 9/21:
The Coalition held our monthly Youth Day at the Park. This month the students listened to a presentation by Jabz from Save the Virio, who discussed the Least Bells Virio and how its existence has been threatened by deforestation in Los Angeles. The War on Youth working group disseminated a bird-watching field guide and led youth in a bid watching activity at the park. Lastly students were introduced to the policing concept of Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) through a game.
On Tuesday 9/24:
The Coalition attended the Board of Police Commissioners meeting. This week the Coalition discussed the candidates for LAPD police chief, and how any pick for Chief will not result in a change to the LAPD’s mission of doling out racialized violence.
That evening the Coalition held our monthly Data Driven Policing Community Meeting.
On Friday 9/27:
The Coalition held our monthly movie night outside LAPD HQ. This month we were joined by representatives from USC-SJP for a discussion on anti-Muslim and anti-Palestinian depictions in western media.
