WEEKLY UPDATE – OCT 27, 2023

Greetings dear friends, here’s what we’ve been up to:

On Saturday (10/21):

The Coalition joined Angelenos in the thousands at Pershing Square to march in support of the Palestinian resistance.

Later that day we held a conversation hosted by Block Cop City, during which organizers from the fight to stop construction of a police training compound in Atlanta’s Weelaunee Forest.

On Sunday (10/22):

The Coalition held our annual rally commemorating O22, the National Day Against Police Brutality. This year we held a rally and screening at the steps of LAPD’s Central Division. The Coalition exhibited LA92, a documentary on the 1992 Rebellion.

On Tuesday (10/24):

The Coalition attended the Board of Police Commissioners Meeting, where we spoke out against the Office of the Inspector General’s decision not to produce an audit of the Suspicious Activity Reporting Program since 2018.

That evening we held our monthly Data Driven Policing program where we talked about the LAPD’s corporate ties to zionist efforts in occupied Palestine.

On Wednesday (10/25):

The Coalition held a press conference and rally with our comrades from the Palestinian Youth Movement in Santa Ana.

On Thursday (10/26):

This week’s episode of Radio Insurrection featured a powerful conversation with Shakeel Syed, executive director of the South Asian Network, discussing the ongoing genocide in Gaza and what the ramifications might be here at home. You can listen to the episode at kpfk.org/archives.

That afternoon our Academic Complicity working group held a well attended teach in at UCLA.
