Greetings dear friends, here’s what we’ve been up to:
On Tuesday 11/21:
The Coalition attended the Los Angeles Board of Police Commissioners meeting. The commission discussed LAPD’s latest budget proposal demanding a $239 M increase. The Commission approved the budget which would become the largest LAPD budget ever.
That evening we held our monthly general meeting, where we discussed the budget proposal and some of the items listed in it.
On Thursday 11/24:
Radio Insurrection featured special guest, Lydia Ponce, to discuss the real meaning behind so-called “Thanksgiving” Day. Lydia discussed the history of Thanksgiving Day’s weaponization to sanitize genocides here and abroad. If you missed the show, you can listen at kpfk.org/archives.
On Friday 11/25:
The Coalition supported Los Angeles Community Action Network’s Arts and Culture event on Friday. Skid Row Community Members came to LA CAN to share their gifts of music, poetry, and art with community members.
