Check out what we’ve been up to:
On Monday 6/3:
The Coalition participated in a community led protest outside of city hall calling out the city’s role in supporting the genocide in Palestine. The protest which featured food, music, political education, and art making was met with a violent and overwhelming LAPD response. Community members’ belongings were stolen by police with police citing municipal codes 41.18 and 56.11, both local ordinances used to criminalize unhoused people.
On Tuesday 6/4:
The Coalition spoke out against the previous evening’s violence at the Board of Police Commissioners meeting. That evening we held our Gender and Sexuality community meeting. This month we discussed the role pink washing has played in sanitizing Zionist violence against Palestinians.
On Thursday 6/6:
This week’s episode of Radio Insurrection featured a conversation on AB 1814, a California State Assembly Bill that would normalize police usage of Facial Recognition Technology. We also discussed the history of Facial Recognition Technology in Los Angeles. We concluded the show by revisiting the importance of the previous Monday’s action in support of Palestine.
