WEEKLY UPDATE – DEC 15, 2023

Greetings dear friends, here’s what we’ve been up to:

On Tuesday 12/12:

The Coalition attended the Board of Police of Commissioners meeting where Real Time Crime Centers were being discussed as a solution to LAPD’s fabricated narrative of organized retail theft. The Coalition named this as another effort to expand LAPD’s surveillance capabilities and in doing so expand LAPD’s budget.

That evening we held our monthly War on Youth webinar, where we mapped out and discussed the many Zionist entities within Los Angeles working to criminalize support for Palestinian resistance.

On Thursday 12/14:

On this week’s episode of Radio Insurrection the Coalition was joined by Noah Chauvin of the Brennan Center for Justice to discuss the federal government’s efforts at continuing and expanding Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act. We also discussed increased surveillance capabilities by local police departments and how the current political landscape is influencing these expansions. You can catch a recording of the episode at kpfk.org/archives

On Friday 12/15:

The Coalition attended Friday’s City Council meeting alongside our partners from Palestinian Youth Movement to protest the Blumenfield-Raman motion seeking to criminalizing flyering as “mass littering” motivated by hate. The motion is the latest in a long line of Zionist efforts to conflate antisemitism with anti-Zionism and criminalize support for Palestine.

That evening we held our monthly movie night where we screened This is Congo. Attendees discussed the many connections the Los Angeles Police Foundation has to bloodshed in other parts of the world. We also identified some of the key players in the Los Angeles Police Foundation and how they profit from this violence.
