Greetings, friends! Here’s what we’ve been up to:
On Tuesday (4/18) the Coalition held our monthly in-person general meeting to discuss the upcoming Robot Dog vote in City Council, our capacity to support upcoming May Day actions, and potential ways to express our solidarity with the STOP COP CITY protests in Atlanta.
On Wednesday (4/19) the War on Youth work group continued our residency with STEM to the Future. This week, the students continued their preparations for their upcoming final project, a direct action for their focus issue, healthy school lunches. During this past week’s class students decided on a group name, a hashtag to use for outreach for the event, and created outreach materials.
Thursday’s (4/20) episode of Radio Insurrection featured a compelling conversation with Billion God Sun of the Africa Town Coalition, reflecting on the 1992 Rebellion. The conversation spanned dispelling the narrative that Florence and Normandie was a historical flashpoint for the rebellion and discussing how our resistance has evolved in the nearly 31 years since the uprisings. You can listen to the conversation at kpfk.org/archives.
