This past week, the Coalition held our monthly Youth Day in the Park where we made seed balls to plant in our gardens. We also attended LA CAN’s Downtown Women’s Action Coalition Meeting, where we brainstormed activities for the upcoming townhall in May to continue to present the Skid Row Women’s Needs Assessment. Later that night, we held our weekly community meeting, and this week’s theme was our general meeting. We talked about how love is principled, as well as current global events and the impacts on our local political landscape, as well as how we can be in solidarity with struggles abroad.
On Wednesday 4/22, we went to LA CAN’s Human and Civil rights meeting to debrief their townhall from last week. Later that evening, we met in our Academic Complicity workgroup to talk about public records requests. We also attended an Occidental College class to speak about Copaganda on 4/23, and we held our “Shut it Down” meeting to continue to build out our fight against Flock “safety.”
On Friday, we held our monthly movie night where we showed “Red Squad,” a film about New York filmmakers who agitate the police and FBI to uncover law enforcement’s secret activities!
