On Tuesday January 20th, despite the Board of Police Commissioners meeting being canceled, we joined Centro CSO as they delivered their petition to honor the life of Jeremy Flores and fight for justice after he was murdered by LAPD.
That afternoon, we joined LA CAN’s DWAC meeting to talk more about the release of the Women’s Needs Assessment! That evening, we held our monthly general meeting where we were able to read about the history of Red Squads, and the history of policing (undercover and otherwise)!
On Wednesday, we attended LA CAN’s Human and Civil Rights meeting where we recapped our retreat and continued to map out our fight. We also held our “Shut It Down” meeting that night where we continued to do deep study to understand the different components of data driven policing.
The Coalition had a meeting for our LASAR video game on Thursday where we learned about script writing! We also had our monthly movie night on Friday where we screened The FBI’s War on Black America in front of LAPD Central Division. We talked about the history of Central, and were able to connect, learn, and eat together.
On Saturday, we went to the Community Self-Defense Coalition meeting and training. There were so many new folks ready to be trained and to join doing community self-defense!
