08/19:
On Tuesday, the Coalition attended the Board of Police Commissioners meeting where we exposed how they are receiving copious funds for “command posts” to track, hunt, and surveil at protests, and where LAPD tried to cover their ongoing aid of ICE raids, we exposed them for the reality of their role in abducting our neighbors and community members.
That night, we went to the support the press conference for Benjamin, an LAUSD student who was abducted by ICE while walking his dog. Then, we held our monthly general meeting where we talked about the current political landscape.
08/20:
On Wednesday, we went to LA CAN’s Human and Civil Rights meeting where we got to learn more and connect with community members about ongoing fights against policing and the violence of the city in Skid Row.
08/22:
The Coalition supported LA CAN on Friday with their Black August Celebration! We commemorated our comrades who are political prisoners, as well as enjoyed food with community while we built power. We learned street art styles, had performances from incredible artists, and did popular education on the history of political prisoners from LA to all across Turtle Island, as well as the ongoing struggle and fight for Black Liberation!
