WEEKLY UPDATE 07/13

This past week, the Coalition held our monthly Gender and Sexuality meeting on 7/7, where we talked about the criminalization of sex work surrounding major sporting events. We also attended a training with the Ayni institute on organizing models, and then went to HCR’s weekly Wednesday meeting to prep for Skid Row Art Night.

On Thursday, 7/9, we had our Gender and Sexuality working group meeting, and later that evening, did Flock outreach and supported LA CAN at art night. On Friday, 7/10, we went to LA CAN’s Residential Organizing Committee Meeting, where we mapped out our histories, and our current fights.

Later that evening, LAPD’s Office of the Inspector General Released his report advising a suspension of new Flock contracts or ALPR cameras, and shortly after, LAPD announced they would not renew their contract with Flock Safety! As we celebrate this immense moment of community power, we know this win is due to the power that the community has built together in our fight against Flock Safety and Automatic License Plate Readers.
