06/17:
On Tuesday, the Coalition attended the Board of Police Commissioners where we exposed them for their ongoing myth surrounding the sanctuary city, their blatant violence from the protests in the past weeks, and their continued expansion of the surveillance weaponry the city continues to fund.
In the evening, we held our monthly General Meeting where we talked about the current political moment, and did brief trainings on PPE and how to spot ICE.
06/20:
The Coalition celebrated Juneteenth and the ongoing fight for freedom on Friday at LA CAN’s monthly marketplace and Juneteenth celebration. We shared food, music, art, games, and resistance as we continue to build power towards full liberation and abolition!
06/21:
On Saturday, we held our Youth Day in the Park where we did story time and painting together at Vista Hermosa! Our Community Policing Working Group did outreach as well to talk more about LAPD community policing projects, and then we attended PYM’s action against US aggression in Iran, and to celebrate ongoing Palestinian resistance.
Throughout the week we have also been continuing to respond to ICE raids, patrol our neighborhoods, and chat with and connect with our neighbors — as the state escalates their violence, the best safety is in community!
