These are kittens in the park from our Youth Day in the Park that we held on 5/16!
This past week, the Coalition held our monthly General Meeting where we talked about the structure of the Coalition, and shared a little bit about our different working groups. On Wednesday 5/20, we attended LA CAN’s Human and Civil Rights Meeting where we did a mini-teach in on the history of the Board of Police Commissioners. Later that day, we met with LA CAN’s DWAC where we got to begin talking through our report on Family Policing and talk about how Black Mothers and poor BIPOC mothers are criminalized by the family policing system.
Later that week, on Thursday, we met with our crew for “Shut it Down” to talk through our fight against Flock, and then we had our War on Youth meeting where we talked about our fight against LASAR and prepping for our internship this summer!
Later that week on Friday, we had a mini retreat where we talked about our strategies and our fights. We also did outreach at the Crenshaw Farmers Market and in Leimert Park to talk about our ongoing work.
