Weekly Update 03/14

This past week, on Tuesday March 10th, we attended the Board of Police Commissioners meeting where we continued to fight back against Flock “Safety.” Notably, we exposed Flock’s “accountability” letter where they admit to information sharing with federal agencies. We also touched on criminalization and the use of Flock for gender based violence, and even LAPD interpersonally stalking their exes. We also exposed Joe Buscaino’s lobbying efforts for Flock.

Later that afternoon, we went to support Students Deserve during public comment at LAUSD’s Board Meeting. We held our monthly War on Youth Meeting that evening to talk about the connections between our fights here with anti-imperial fights abroad. We understand that our fights are interconnected! And that our fight against the surveillance tech piloted in Skid Row and Los Angeles is the same technology that is then exported and imported to occupied land throughout the world.

We also attended LA CAN’s DWAC meeting on Tuesday, and the Human and Civil Rights Meeting on Wednesday. We held our coordinating team meeting on Wednesday night as well in person at LA CAN.

On Friday, we participated in LA CAN’s Resident Organizing Committee (ROC) meeting where we talked about our fightback against policing in Skid Row, and how we can win together. On Saturday, we attended the Community Self Defense Coalition meeting where we talked about the history of May Day.
