On Monday, the Coalition hosted Carceral Ecologies Lab to discuss the harms of LAPD helicopters.

The Coalition attended the Board of Police Commissioners Meeting on Tuesday, where we debunked their performative Black History Month Presentation, and their Automatic License Plate Reader (ALPR) Presentation. Later that evening, we held our Data Driven Policing Meeting where we launched our Data Fix-ation Zine, and discussed the power of ALPRs to share information between local and federal agencies.

On Thursday, Coalition members attended and supported USC’s S.C.A.L.E. rally for their rapid response network and the ongoing fight against ICE.

This Friday, we held our monthly movie night where we showed Requiem 29 and Chicano Moratorium: A Question of Freedom, where we drew connections between this current energy with historical moments across movements.

LACAN (Los Angeles Community Action Network) held an annual celebration of life and march and rally for Charly “Africa” Keunang. Dozens of community members gathered to honor his life with poetry and music.
