On January 8th, the Coalition joined Centro CSO, CSDC, and many other organizations in honoring the life of Renee Good. That Saturday, in addition to the CSDC (Community Self Defense Coalition Meeting), we also joined Black Lives Matter LA in their vigil for Keith Porter.
On Tuesday 01/12, we continued to fight for justice for Keith Porter at the Board of Police Commissioner’s Meeting with BLM and many other organizations across LA. Keith Porter was a father to two beautiful girls, a son, a neighbor. On New Years Eve, an off-duty ICE agent murdered Keith Porter. We will continue to fight for justice and honor his life.
On Tuesday evening, we held our monthly War on Youth Community meeting where we talked about the political moment, the Board of Police Commissioners, and our goals for the year.
We also attended LA CAN’s DWAC meeting on Tuesday, and Human and Civil Rights Committee on Wednesday. On Friday, we went to LA CAN’s Resident Organizing Committee (ROC) meeting where we talked about Revive LA and our fightback in Skid Row. On Sunday, we attended LA CAN’s HCR retreat where we continued the conversation about “Revive LA,” and our goals, strategy, and hopes for human and civil rights in Skid Row!
