Thank you LA! Communities Unanimously Oppose LAPD Drones

This past weekend, the Stop LAPD Spying Coalition and the Drone-Free LAPD/ No Drones, LA campaign held an amazing community town-hall to discuss the LAPD’s drone program.  Over 160 community members attended and spoke out in near unanimous opposition to LAPD’s acquisition of two DraganFlyer X6 Drones.

We want to thank the organizers, organizations, and community members who helped put this together and make it a resounding success!

If you missed the town-hall this weekend, you can tune in to KPFK, 90.7 FM.  They’ll be broadcasting a recording of the event on air in the next couple of weeks. We’ll keep you informed on when to tune in and hear Angelenos say No to Drones!

With close to 2000 petition signatures, several focus groups and surveys, and now the community town-hall, the peoples’ verdict is in: We want a Drone-Free LAPD

Join The Fight. Keep LAPD Drone-Free!

Highland Park and Echo Park Stand up to the Police State!

Last Thursday, the Highland Park Neighborhood Council stood up to the LAPD’s drone program by overwhelmingly supporting a letter declaring their opposition to LAPD’s use of drones in our city!  We thank the neighborhood councilors for standing up against Police militarization.

The Greater Echo Park Elysian Neighborhood Council’s Public Safety Committee Unanimously approved a resolution calling on the LAPD to terminate it’s iWATCH “See Something, Say Something” program and to rescind Special Order 1, which criminalizes innocent activity like taking photos in public.  The GEPENC has also previously stood up to the LAPD on their drone program, and we’d like to also send our thanks to these community members for speaking out and standing against the police state!
