Join us for our monthly webinar for the fight against the War on Youth. This month we will be talking about how to resist the appropriation of Public Health frameworks for countering “violent extremism.” Academics contracted by the Department of Homeland Security have been advising the LAPD on how to target our youth as “extremists” by using mental health practitioners and pseudoscientific “risk assessments,” and have even pushed for the public health field to codify a medical definition of extremism. The purpose of this program is to stigmatize resistance and pathologize dissent. We will show how this trend is a continuation of eugenics, and how police reform shares the same heritage.
