Expose Sabotaging of Consent Decree!
Meet at 100 W. 1st St., Downtown LA @ LAPD Headquarters Tuesday April 14th at 9:00am!

The Stop LAPD Spying Coalition along with its many community partners will be hand delivering the LAPD Board of Police Commissioners a copy of a letter that is to be sent to the Department of Justice about LAPD’s sabotaging of the Consent Decree in the summer of 2013. LAPD officers tampered with 92 out of 300 digital in car video systems that were put in place to monitor police activity and guarantee LAPD’s commitment to public safety. This program was a part of the agreement to lift the consent decree in May of 2013.

The LA Board of Police Commissioners should have sent a report regarding the sabotaging of these systems to the Department of Justice in summer of 2013. Now we are approaching the Summer of 2015! The people must step up to protect their human and civil rights and report this violation. It is very clear the Police Commission is complicit and will remain silent!

Human Relations Commission – Report Back From April 9th

The LA City Human Relations Commission announced that it will be holding the first “Community Meeting” on LAPD SAR program, gang injunctions, racial profiling, and use of force on May 14th.  Although HRC announced the date, yet there were no details on the content and framework of these meetings.  We need to keep up the pressure and make sure that the community has a real voice in these events, and to make sure that the State’s spokespeople don’t monopolize the conversation.

#DeathByCop “Remember Me” Report Back

On Tuesday, the Stop LAPD Spying Coalition along with hundreds of supporters, participated in a 4-point directional march and die-ins with the families of victims of police murders here in Los Angeles.  The #DeathByCop, “Remember Me” march was organized by the Youth Justice Coalition and the S.T.O.P. Police Violence Coalition and was, by all accounts, a great success.  Officials are currently reaching out, and we need to keep up the pressure.  Thank you for turning out Los Angeles!

With an increase in racist and queer-phobic violence and a state that uses our bodies to advance its imperialist agenda at home and abroad, what’s become apparent is that LGBTIQ rights have become co-opted. JOIN DarkMatter for a night of poetry, polemic, and healing as we not only critique — but also imagine new queer futures.

Based in New York, DARKMATTER is a trans south asian performance art duo comprised of Alok Vaid-Menon and Janani Balasubramanian. Facebook Event Here
