COLLECTIVE LEARNING, ANALYSIS, AND BUILDING

Recording for Part One is here, and meeting notes can be found here.

Please join us on Tuesday December 21 at 6pm for the Stop LAPD Spying Coalition’s launch of a 6 part online series of community conversations for collective learning, analysis, sharing, and building on our report Automating Banishment: The Surveillance and Policing of Looted Land.  The 6 part in-person series will start on January 9, 2022. Check out the schedule for Online and In-person conversations below.

Released on November 8, 2021 the report was envisioned, researched, drafted, and edited by dozens of community members. It studies the relationship of data-driven policing to real estate development, displacement, and gentrification. The relationship between land and policing in Los Angeles goes beyond the physical presence of police. It includes the structures built to maintain segregation and control even when police are not physically present. Together, the systems that comprise surveillance and policing of land in Los Angeles extend and defend the power of the U.S. settler state.

Our goal, through these shared conversations, is to build collective knowledge and power to dismantle and abolish these systems of harm.

Please click HERE to access the part 1 study guide.  Look forward to seeing you on Tuesday Dec 21st at 6PM PST.
