This week at the Coalition, we held our monthly General community meeting! We were able to read sections from Automating Banishment in connection with the World Cup and how private/public interests are leading to displacment! We also did outreach practice for our fight against Flock and did updates from our working groups.
On Tuesday, we went to LA CAN’s Downtown Women’s Action Coalition meeting, and on Wednesday 6/17, we attended LA CAN’s Human and Civil Rights Meeting. We also went to the Yarrow Institute’s People’s Assembly on Thursday, and our week culminated in an incredible concert and fundraiser “Freedom Now” with LA CAN, a counter cultural movement to showcase artists who are fighting for a better world! After 250 years of the US’s settler colonial occupation, we commemorated this Juneteenth guided by the fact that we are still fighting for freedom!
This Saturday, we are having our Youth Day in the Park at Elysian Park in conjunction with the Community Self-Defense Coalition’s Youth Committee! We will be do art, coloring, and face painting.
