This is a mock surveillance camera we are hoping to use for our scavenger hunt at youth day in the park this month 🙂
11/03:
On Monday, the Coalition attended the press conference demanding Benjamin Marcelo Guerrero-Cruz’s release from Adelanto (an ICE Detention facility). Benjamin is an LAUSD student who was abducted while walking his dog, and we stand with teachers and UdB in demanding his immediate release and the release of all political prisoners from Adelanto to MCJ!
11/04:
We went to the Board of Police Commissioner’s meeting on Tuesday where we disrupted the meeting and demanded that the message of the people be heard! The new “president,” Teresa Sanchez-Gordon continues to cut off public comment without hearing from people, and so week after week we have been making our voices heard regardless of the commissioners!
That evening, we held our Gender and Sexuality meeting where we got to meet someone who supported the Freedom Flotilla, as well as hear from someone who was on the crew of the Conscience! We talked about what it means to have wins, and how to continue to build power and hope amidst intense imperial violence.
11/05:
On Wednesday, we went to LA CAN’s Human and Civil Rights’ Townhall to celebrate decades of Community Watch in Skid Row, and keeping an eye out and keeping each other safe from the police. We got to hear from some incredible organizers who have been doing community watch and cop watch for many years.
That afternoon, we got to speak with some rad students up north in Berkeley about public health!
11/07:
The Coalition also attended the Community Self Defense Coalition meeting on Saturday where we continue to build with folks and further the fight against ICE, from surveillance to abductions. We take care of us!
