On Tuesday, the Coalition attended the Board of Police Commissioners meeting where LAPD was getting tens of thousands of dollars worth of new surveillance equipment. The newest commissioner, Jeff Skobin — a zionist heir to Galpin motors and a long time BoPC nepo baby. Teresa, the commission’s president continued to cut off speeches and silence the public, but we made our voices heard regardless!
That evening, we held our monthly Data Driven Policing Meeting where we discussed social media surveillance and how it replicates criminalization in our digital world. We also debriefed O22 (10/22) where the coalition held a march and rally against police brutality.
10/29:
On Wednesday, we attended the Human and Civil Rights meeting as they prepare for their townhall this upcoming Wednesday. We also held our Shut it Down meeting where we beat up an ICE piñata at the end of our meeting 🙂
10/31:
The Coalition did community watch with Human and Civil Rights on Friday, where we kept an eye out and tracked any police activity. Later that evening, we also held our Coordinating Team meeting which happens every other week on Fridays at 4pm at LA CAN!
