On Monday 10/14:
The Stop LAPD Spying Coalition presented our work to a Master’s in Public Health cohort at Charles R Drew University. We discussed our fight against the War on Youth and the Medicalization of “Extremism”.
On Tuesday 10/15:
The Coalition attended the Board of Police Commissioners and spoke out against DOJ funding for LAPD Behavioral Health training. The Coalition uplifted LAPD’s history of brutally killing people experiencing mental or behavioral health issues.
That evening the Coalition held our monthly general meeting. This month we continued our collective reading of Automating Banishment. We then held a conversation on the political landscape and the role of liberal politicians in enforcing multi-cultural fascism.
Even later that evening, the Coalition mobilizes community members to the Los Feliz Neighborhood Council where we opposed a Community Impact Statement supporting Katy Yaroslavsky’s anti-protest motion.
On Thursday 10/17
This week’s episode of Radio Insurrection featured a conversation with LA CAN’s General Dogon discussing the importance of honoring O22. We were also joined by our friend Shakeel Syed of South Asian Network who discussed Yaroslavsky’s anti-protest motion. You can listen to the episode at kpfk.org/archives.
On Friday 10/18:
The Coalition shared our work with a social justice oriented leadership development collective from East LA College. The Coalition also supported LA CAN’s monthly Skid Row Marketplace.
