WEEKLY UPDATE – October 11, 2024

On Saturday 10/5:

The Coalition mobilized to Palestinian Youth Movement’s action at Pershing Square marking the one year anniversary of the most recent genocide of Palestinians by the Zionist entity.

On Monday 10/7:

The Coalition supported USC SJP’s rally and press conference marking the one year anniversary of the recent upswell in support for Palestinian protest at the Trousdale and Jefferson entrance of USC.

Later that evening, the Coalition also supported UCLA SJP’s inaugural week of rage action on campus.

On Tuesday 10/8:

The Coalition attended the Board of Police Commissioners where we spoke about the lineage of racist violence championed by LAPD police chiefs. The Coalition spoke about this in response to the announcement of the new LAPD police chief Jim McDonnell.

Later that morning the Coalition supported Occidental SJP’s week of actions by providing a teach-in on our work.

On Wednesday 10/9:

The Coalition attended the Los Feliz Neighborhood Council Public Health and Safety Committee meeting to speak out against a Community Impact Statement supporting Yaroslavsky’s anti-protest motion.

On Thursday 10/10:

This week’s episode of Radio Insurrection featured a conversation on the current political landscape in the city and a reflection on the importance of commemorating O22 (October 22nd), the national day against police violence.

On Friday 10/11:

The Coalition gave a talk on Behavioral Surveillance and Racial Profiling at the Radical Hood Library. The lecture was organized by Yannick Giovanni Marshall through his class at CalArts.
