On Tuesday 8/13:
The Coalition attended the Board of Police Commissioners where we spoke out against LAPD’s observation of Hate Crime Prevention Month and their celebration of youth surveillance programs.
That evening we held our monthly War on Youth working group, where we discussed Black August and began to plan our upcoming Youth Art Making Day..
On Wednesday 8/14:
The Coalition shared our work with a cohort of youth organizing fellows at Chuco’s. The youth discussed the expanse of the Coalition’s work and touched on different working groups.
On Thursday 8/15:
This week’s episode Radio Insurrection featured a conversation with recurring guest, John Raphling, of Human Rights Watch. John discussed his new report on homelessness titled“’You have to move!’ The cruel and ineffective criminalization of unhoused people in Los Angeles,”. On Friday 8/16:
The Coalition supported LA CAN’s Black August Commemoration.
