Greetings dear friends, here’s what we’ve been up to:
On Tuesday (5/14):
The Coalition attended the monthly Board of Police Commissioners meeting where we called out the Office of Inspector General’s lack of a yearly audit on the Suspicious Activity Reporting Program for 5 years now. The Coalition also named and shamed the department for withholding public records from community members requesting records through the California Public Records Act.
That evening the Coalition held our monthly War on Youth Webinar. This month we held space to reflect on recent campus encampments, and the varying ways Zionist backlash has surfaced in response to support for Palestine.
On Thursday (5/16):
This weeks conversation on Radio Insurrection featured student organizers Matthew from Occidental College and Taylor from UC Berkeley Law discussing student demands on various campuses in support of Palestinian Liberation. The second half of the show was a conversation with Becky Denison of Venice Community Housing discussing council member Tracy Park’s continuing efforts to criminalize homelessness in the west side. You can listen to the episode at kpfk.org/archives.
On Friday (5/17):
The Coalition supported LA CAN’s Food and Wellness Marketplace!
